Bodmin Beacon LNR is situated within the Town of Bodmin and spans 33
hectares. Dominated by the monument erected to Sir Walter Raleigh Gilbert
(1857) the Beacon Field itself is a popular public open space featuring
relict heathland and open downland. Adjoining this and spreading out
into the wider countryside the reserve also encompasses 11 hectares
managed as hay meadows and a further 16 hectares planted in 1993 as
community woodland.
