Gwithian Sandpit is situated on the north-eastern margin of St Ives Bay, at
the mouth of the Red River Valley on the north coast of Cornwall. The site
is situated directly north east of Gwithian Towans. There is historically no
public access to the site. However, it can be accessed from the coast road
north-east of Gwithian Village and from the South West Coast Path on both sides.
It is planned that the South West Coast Path National Trail will run along
the seaward side of the site, and other limited footpaths will be provided
across parts of the site.
