History

Both Seaton Valley LNR and Seaton Valley North are owned and managed by Caradon District Council.

Until 1995, Seaton Valley LNR was a private caravan site! However, when the opportunity for Caradon District Council to purchase the site came up, recognising its potential as a green space for local people and its value for nature conservation, the Council bought the site. The site was re-launched as a Countryside Park and in 1997 most of the site was declared as a Local Nature Reserve. At this time the land immediately to the north was in private ownership. However, the Council has since acquired this land also, providing the opportunity to extend the existing reserve. Seaton Valley North is currently in the process of being declared.
