Introduction

Upton Towans is an area of beautiful coastal sand dunes. The site is very popular with visitors who come for walking and dog walking or simply to admire the views across St Ives Bay. Previously the site of the National Explosives factory until 1945, Upton Towans is a fantastic example of the power of nature. The dunes now almost entirely conceal the history of Upton Towans with the occasional derelict building reminding us of the past.
